2008 F-1 Duathlon Race
On April 27th 2008 up to 100 people will toe 3 starting lines to experience a race like nothing they have ever done before. What is a F-1 Duathlon? Well basically it's a 3 stage event with each stage covering 1 mile run, 6 mile bike and another 1 mile run, with a 20 minute break in between each stage. Everyone starts the first stage together, the second and third stages are begun in the same order as the previous stages finish times. So for example in the first stage the winner finished in 30 minutes exact, 2nd place was at 30:15 and 3rd place was at 31:00, 20 minutes after the last place person crossed the finish the leader would restart and in my example 15 seconds later the 2nd place person would go and 1 minute later the 3rd place person would start and so on. We will hold these events on April 27th, at the same location as the normal duathlon series. With the first race for Elite competitors starting at 8:30am, followed by an open race at 10am. The Elite race will award prize money for the first 3 places for both Men and Women. While the open race will award top 3 overall Men and Woman and top 3 Military teams, along with many random awards. (All awards being provided by the Wright Tri Club)
Military teams Division: 3 member teams with each team member doing one leg, all teams MUST be coed. The open race will be open to the first 60 people or teams to signup. It will begin at approximately 10am after the completion of the Elite Race. We will give awards to the first 3 places for both men and women. Open Race awards ceremony will be held about 30 minutes after the last finisher comes in. This event is open to all base connected people (Military, Military Dependant, Civil Service, Civil Service dependant, and Base contractors), and as such this is a base intramural event and all base participants can earn Commander's Trophy points for their units as well. If you are not connected to the base, you MUST be a member of the Triathlon club to participate. Also, if you are a minor, a parent or guardian MUST sign the race waiver in order for you to participate. Please be sure you are on the base access list. If you are a club member and participated in last years Duathlon Series you are already on the list.
For information on location
ATTENTION!!! The Duathlon access list has been redone for this year, the old one was getting way to large. Currently ONLY Club members are on it, if you have a base ID of any kind and you can get on the base normally, you do not need to be on the list. If you do not have normal access to the base you have to be on the list, this includes family members coming to watch! Please email Mike Randall to verify or to add a name. Note! getting added to the access list requires at least 4 business days to accomplish, do not wait till the last day and expect to be able to get on base. Rules: You MUST wear a helmet at all times while on the bike. Again no exceptions, this is a base requirement as well as an intelligent safety issue. You must rack your bike and you must place it back in the same spot during transitions, and you must wear the number provided on the FRONT of your body. We will have an aid station placed at the transition area and at the finish. We will provide water, sports drink, and food for all participants. Race Entry fee is $12, which includes a T-shirt, we strongly suggest pre registering, as the race has limits and race day registration will only be allowed if we are not full. (Note on Day of registration If you do not have base access, you have to pregister or verify you are on the access list or you will be denied entry to the base. You must check in by the time stated or you risk your slot being given to a race day registrant, No refunds for no shows. The race will be rescheduled in case of severe weather, please check this website for last minute updates and details. We will also update the participant lists as entries are received. In the event of a sell out we will offer you a chance to be on a standby list or return your entry to you. All Team Applications must be submitted together in a single envelope. 2008 Race Application
Have a family member that wants to watch? We could really use volunteer help as well. Racing in the Open race, why not volunteer for the Elite race first? and vice versa. Results will be posted here as soon as possible after the event.
