37 to 40 miles in length. It is mostly a "B" ride on the DCC scale, with some
optional "A" level riding. Meet in Fairborn at the "5-points" intersection
of Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Beaver Valley, Maple, and Funderberg, in
the parking lot for the Big K Mart and CVS Pharmacy. Since we leave right
at 5:00, try to get there 10 minutes early. Saturday morning ride

|
You are invited to a new Wright Triathlon Club group training known as "Rick's Bricks". Training starts Thursday, April 3rd, and continues every Thursday (weather permitting) through mid September. These bike/run sessions will take place in and around the Sugarcreek Township area. Here's the plan!
|
- Meet in the Sugarcreek Reserve parking lot on Conference Road by 5:50pm.
- Bike session starts promptly at 6:00pm. This will be an out-and-back ride on mostly flat country roads at your own pace. Go as far as you can in 25 minutes and then turn back (course maps will be provided). Meet back in the Surgarceek Reserve parking lot and prepare to run by 7:00pm.
- Run session starts at 7:00pm on the Sugarcreek Reserve trails. Meet in the parking lot by the restrooms. Plan on at least 3 miles, more if you choose. Lots of well-marked trails from which to choose.
- Parking and Restrooms are available at the Sugarcreek Reserve. However, water may not be available for several more weeks.
Can't make the 6:00pm ride? Join us for the 7:00pm run! Don't want to run? Join us for the 6:00pm ride!
If you're interested or want further information, please contact Rick Hollenbeck or give him a call at 937-848-9921.
Detailed Bike Course Description with Mileage:
This is a mostly flat course on Sugarcreek Township country roads with little car traffic (except for a short section on Willmington / Dayton Road).
Turn left out of the Sugarcreek Reserve parking lot onto Conference Road and head east. At 7/10ths of a mile, turn right onto Ferry Road. At 1.2 miles, turn right onto Centerville Road and then take an immediate left to continue south on Ferry Road. Continue on Ferry Road until you hit Willmington/Dayton Road at 3.1 miles. Turn left (south) onto Willmington/Dayton Road. At 3.8 miles, turn left onto Middle Run Road and head east. At 4.3 miles, turn left to stay on Middle Run Road (Haines Road is to the right). Continue on Middle Run Road and cross Waynesville Road at 5.4 miles. Continue on Middle Run (which becomes Mt. Holly Road) and turn left (north) onto Penewit Road at mile 6.6 (On your return trip, please note that this is the Mt. Holly/Penewit intersection). Go north on Penewit, crossing Sears Road at 7.6 miles and Centerville Road at 8.6 miles. If you make it this far in less than 25 minutes, Penewit Road continues for another mile before it hits a VERY STEEP down-hill section that terminates into State Route 725. If you're fast enough to get this far within the 25 minute turnaound time (you would have to average 23.5mph), it's very unlikely that you'll make it back in time for the 7:00pm run.
